Michelle Schaefer has owned a Farmers Insurance agency, Schaefer Agency, in downtown Edmond since 1995, where she specializes in home, auto, life and business insurance. She and her staff of three have won numerous sales awards. She has also received her CLU and LUTCF designations.

Michelle Schaefer has been a member of the Rotary Club of Northwest Oklahoma City since 2000, where her classification is Insurance Agent. She has served as president of her club, has twice been named their Member of the Year, and is a Sustaining Member, an eight time Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Paul Harris Society.

She has also served as District Trainer and Assistant District Governor for District 5750, and was the 2010 GSE Team Leader to Italy. She is currently the Membership Chair for the district, as well as the 2012 District Conference Chair. Michelle was recently elected the District Governor Nominee Designate; she will serve as District Governor of Rotary District 5750 in 2014-15.

Michelle is on the boards of the Downtown Edmond Business Association as Treasurer, the Oklahoma City Chapter of NAWBO as Treasurer, the Oklahoma Catholic Women’s Conference as Marketing Director, the UCO College of Liberal Arts Advisory Board, and in 2009 was named the Edmond Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year. She is also a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and the Successful Businesswomen’s Association.

Her husband Blaine is a computer programmer; their son Kelly is a seminarian at St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in Indiana.

Optimal Outcomes began in 2001 as a personal/professional development company helping business owners grow their business and develop their employees.   Susan believes that life is a journey and that your business must grow and evolve according to where your heart leads you and according to the best way to serve your clients.   Her focus has changed through the years in response to a growing need of highly professional people seeking to find meaning and balance in the workplace and in their everyday lives.  The company has evolved to focus on the individual’s growth through self-leadership and helping them bloom into the full essence of who they have come here to be.   

Susan’s greatest reward is helping people become more productive, use more of their potential, and achieve peace of mind while achieving the success they deserve and desire.  Susan works with teams of leaders and potential leaders within organizations and one-on-one with CEO’s helping each become the CEO of their LIFE.  

Her greatest challenge in being a woman owned business is keeping focused on doing the things that will bring her closer to reaching her vision and achieving her goals.  Having a daily plan of action and specific tasks to accomplish keeps her on track.

One of the first things Susan did when she started her business was to join NAWBO.  It is through NAWBO she has found the support and friendship of other women owned businesses.  She is a past president of the Central Oklahoma NAWBO Chapter.

Susan received her BA from the University of Northern Iowa in Business Education and Marketing and obtained her MA in Adult Education from The University of Central Oklahoma.  She received her coaching certification from Resource Associates Coaching Academy.
